THE COMMISSION

Sunseeker, rebuilt at Tuzla and redelivered in 2024.

During a focused 1-month period in the spring, our highly skilled and experienced team undertook comprehensive refit services to enhance the yacht's performance and safety.

WHAT WE DID
ENGINE AND MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE

Main Engine Maintenance : Comprehensive servicing of the main engines to ensure optimal performance. Injector Repairs : Addressed warnings and fixed issues with the starboard and port main engine injectors. Generator Control Panels : Conducted thorough checks on the control panels of the generators.

SAFETY AND NAVIGATION UPGRADES

Fire Extinguishers : Renewed and updated all fire extinguishers onboard. Maps and Navigation Lights : Updated maps and ensured all navigation lights functioned correctly. Liferafts : The yacht's liferafts were replaced. Detection : The fire-alarm and smoke-detector system was checked through. Charts : A chart card was obtained and the plotter updated.

PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

Battery Replacement : Old batteries are replaced with new ones for reliable power. Bilge Pumps : Serviced bilge pumps to maintain effective water management. Sea Water Intakes : Disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled the seawater intake systems. Batteries : Eleven start batteries for the main engines and generators were measured and renewed, terminals included, and the rectifier settings checked; the four service batteries were tested and replaced. Generator Panels : The generator remote-control panels were returned to service. Tanks : Black-water tank gauges and discharge pumps were checked, the guest grey-water tank connections made up, and the float switch cleaned and put back into service.

HULL AND UNDERWATER GEAR

Antifouling : Applied silicone-based antifouling paint to protect the hull. Zinc Replacement : Replaced zinc anodes to prevent corrosion. Shafts, Propellers, and Seals : Checked and maintained these critical components.

ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE

Aft Platform : Performed maintenance on the aft platform piston. Black Water Tank : The black water tank was repaired to ensure proper waste management. Windlass Maintenance : Ensured the windlass was in good working condition. Fire System : Conducted a thorough check and maintenance of the fire system.

WHAT THE HAUL-OUT FOUND

The yacht arrived at Pendik Marina with water weeping past the sea-suction valves, which were replaced. A closer survey out of the water then found serious osmosis along the keel line, and rot in the backing pads under the bilge pumps once the affected laminate was opened up. Neither was in the original scope; both were reported and put right before she went back in.

OSMOSIS REPAIR TO THE KEEL LINE

Keel Line : The osmosis was ground back through the antifouling and the decayed backing pads cut out. New pads were bedded into the keel line in epoxy filler and glassed over with three layers of epoxy laminate, then faired. Coating : International 820 primer was applied and left a full day to cure, sanded the following morning and finished in Danboline. The antifouling area took a further layer of glass, sanded, primed with International 820, filled, sanded and primed again, then an antifouling primer and three coats of antifouling to finish.

DECKS, TOPSIDES AND FINISH

Teak : Damaged teak on the bathing platform was repaired. Decks : Every deck and the platform were orbital-sanded, and the soles forward of the wheelhouse cleaned and serviced. Topsides : The topsides were compounded and polished locally; the hull was sanded, primed and antifouled. Sealant : The yacht's external sealant was renewed. Lighting : All underwater lights were replaced with new.

SUMMARY

During this spring refit, our team focused on essential maintenance tasks to enhance the yacht's reliability, safety, and overall performance. From engine maintenance and safety upgrades to applying antifouling paint and servicing critical systems, we ensured the yacht was fully prepared for the upcoming season.
